Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to inflict a second consecutive Premier League loss after the 4-1 defeat to Brighton.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter refused to blame himself or the players for the loss and instead claimed Chelsea lost to a confident Arsenal side.

Potter said: “We have to look at where the two teams are at, Arsenal are in a good moment and have worked together for a long time and we’re in a different phase.

“We tried to make it more of a London derby. We lacked quality but the effort was there and we were beaten by the better team today.

“It was not a great goal from our perspective, we defended those moments quite well.

“We didn’t function as fluently as we would like. There are always two teams on the pitch and you have to understand where they’re from and look at where they are at.

“You can see the points they have in the Premier League, they’re in a good place and we’re slightly different. You can have those moments in a season.

“What is important is that we understand where we are at, what work is, how we can do better and then execute it.”

  1. Potter needs to be serious with his team selection and consistency. We need natural defenders , avoid testing with players off form.
