Edouard Mendy has been first choice goalkeeper since signing up for Chelsea in 2020.

However, the Senegal international is yet to feature for Chelsea since the appointment of Graham Potter.

Mendy’s last start for Chelsea was on 3 September, and he has been out injured since then.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has however been in fine form in Mendy’s absence.

Blues boss Graham Potter has revealed that Mendy has acted professionally upon losing his place to Kepa.

“He’s been great, a top professional, very supportive,” said Potter.

“I’ve had some good chats with him.

“He was injured when we first arrived so Kepa played, and Kepa did well. He’s honest and professional enough to know sometimes you have to be patient and work hard and support the team, which is what he did. We can’t ask any more.

“He’s made sure he’s ready, he’s trained well, and he’s kept his standards high. Now he has an opportunity. It’s unfortunate for Kepa it’s come around like that, but that’s football.”
