Kovacic reveals why left-footed goal against Salzburg was special to him

Mateo Kovacic was in top form for Chelsea as he scored a stunning strike in the Champions League game against RB Salzburg.

In the 23rd minute, Kovacic hit a clean strike with his left foot from the edge of the box to put Chelsea in front.

It was a stunning goal from Kovacic, and he has revealed that it was very special to him.

Kovacic was born in Austria, and it made the goal extra special.

β€œIt’s nice to score where I was born,” the Croatian told BT Sport after the game. “My parents were here and my friends.

“I don’t score many but this goal was a nice one. I always say it’s important the team wins and less important who scores.”
