Chelsea defeated RB Salzburg 2-1 away from home to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League.

It was a fine Chelsea performance, and Mateo Kovacic was one of the best players of the game.

Kovacic scored a brilliant first-half strike to put Chelsea in front. However, the Croatia international was subbed off in the 68th minute.

Explaining his decision at full-time, Graham Potter revealed that Kovacic got a knock.

Asked if Kovacic was okay, Potter told BT Sport: “Yeah, he’s just feeling his calf a little bit.

“It was a heavy pitch, there’s a bit of tightness – hopefully it’s not too bad. It was the same for Mason [Mount], the same for Ruben [Loftus-Cheek], it’s just how it is at this point of the season.”
