According to reports, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Monaco to hire their technical director Laurence Stewart.
The role of technical director has been left vacant since Petr Cech left the club, with Todd Boehly handling everything in this regards during the summer transfer window.
According to the Athletic, Stewart will take up the role and return to the Premier League after the deal has been officially sealed.
Stewart has worked in the Premier League before, and was previously at the FA and Manchester City working in performance analysis.
He has also served as the head of scouting with RRB Leipzig and the Red Bull network, before moving to Monaco.
With Todd Boehly planning to set up a multi-club model, Stewart’s experience at Manchester City and Red Bull will have been a big plus for him in getting the role.
Chelsea are also set to bring in Joe Shields from Southampton as director of recruitment.
Southampton have been angered by the way Chelsea have approached their staff, and will force Chelsea to wait six months for Shields as per the notice period in his contract.
