Chelsea paid a massive £97.5m to sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. But the transfer didn’t go as expected, and Lukaku has since returned to Inter on loan.

According to Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport,  rap star Jay-Z had a hand in facilitating Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan.

The rapper who owns Roc Nation, the same agency who handle all of Lukaku’s dealings, is said to have a good relationship with Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly.

When Todd Boehly made a decision to loan the striker back to Italy, he consulted Jay Z, who is his friend, and the rapper advised that Lukaku should return to Inter Milan.

Inter paid £6.9m to sign the striker on a season-long loan, and Gazzetta dello Sport have said that all three parties are willing to extend the loan by a further 12 months and have even agreed a transfer fee for 2024 which will see Chelsea make a significant loss on the fee they paid for the Belgian.

Todd Boehly is said to be willing to accept the club will make a loss due to an intervention from close friend, Jay-Z.
