With Chelsea short of options in the middle of the park following Billy Gilmour’s exit during the summer, then manager Thomas Tuchel opted to go for another midfielder.
Chelsea snapped up Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus, and the Blues have the option to sign him up for £30m.
However, the Switzerland international is yet to feature for Chelsea, and hasn’t had a minute action under Graham Potter.
According to football reporter Simon Phillips, Potter trusts young midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka more than Zakaria, who’s the least in the pecking order in Chelsea’s midfield.

There have been talks that Zakaria could leave Chelsea in January following his lack of playing minutes.
“There has been no decision made at all on that. Denis has been in the group and he’s been training well,” Potter said of the situation last week.
“He’s ready to help the team but obviously there’s competition for places in that area. There’s no talks [about leaving].
“He’s an important member of the team. He’s being patient and trying to help the team from the side at the moment. He’s waiting for a chance
