Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is in the final year of his contract with Chelsea.

Kante has barely featured this season, and has now been ruled out for another four months.

Kante and Chelsea are yet to agree terms so far this season, and former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has told Chelsea to rather go all out and sign Declan Rice who still loves Chelsea, having come through the youth system at the club before joining West Ham.

“There’s a simple solution for Chelsea moving forward, looking to the future, which is you’ve got one of the best holding players in Declan Rice,” Murphy told White and Jordan on talkSPORT.

“He loves Chelsea. He’s the one to take his role, he’s capable and would be there for the rest of his career.

“They’ll have to bite the bullet and pay whatever it is. That’s the solution to replace Kante.”

Murphy doesn’t think Kante would remain at the club, as be believes that the Frenchman may have made up his mind at this stage.

“I imagine if he’d be staying then it’d be done. I very rarely see a player get to the last year of his contract,” said Murphy.

“The lad at Villa [Douglas] Luiz did it and just signed a new one.

“Players of Kante’s ilk, he might want to go home, whatever. He might have another option.

“You know how good he is. It would be done if he was staying.”
