Manchester United have confirmed that star player Cristiano Ronaldo will not play against Chelsea in this weekend’s clash at Stamford Bridge.

Ronaldo was left on the bench as Manchester United defeated Tottenham 2-0 on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old did not wait for the final whistle, as he walked down the tunnel before the final whistle, after not featuring in this game.

Some reports however claimed that Ronaldo defied manager Erik ten Hag by refusing to come on as a late substitute.

Ronaldo, who scored against Chelsea last season, has been dropped from the squad to play Chelsea this weekend.

In addition to being dropped for United’s trip to Chelsea on Saturday evening, Ronaldo will also not be involved in first-team training this week.

Manchester United have released a statement that reads: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea.

“Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
