Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is in the final year of his contract with Chelsea, and the 31-year-old midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Kante is one of the highest earners at Chelsea, with wages of up to £290k per week. However, his injury situation has been a problem for the past two years.
Chelsea want to keep Kante, and Kante wants to remain at the club.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and N’Golo Kante are however still quite far from reaching an agreement over a new deal.
The negotiations are not easy and neither the club nor the player feel they are close to a breakthrough.
Kante is believed to want a long-term contract which Chelsea aren’t ready to fulfil due to his injury situation.
It’s yet to be seen what would become of the midfield general, who has been a key asset to the club since joining in 2016.
