One of the reasons the new Chelsea owners appointed Graham Potter is to get the best of the club’s academy.

Potter himself has admitted he loves academy players because they understand and carry the culture of the club.

“I don’t know if I prefer [using academy players] but I like it, absolutely,” Potter has said. “And I think it’s important to have players who understand the club.

“Ultimately, the most important thing is having the right people with the right attitude, players who want to improve and have ambition and take the club forward and take their own careers forward. That’s what we want.”

Potter meanwhile has said he doesn’t intend on using the same set of players for each game, and this one will interest the young players.

The 47-year-old said in his post-match press conference after Wolves game: “It’s credit to the players because there’s a good group here. I don’t think we can succeed with just 11 players.

“I don’t think it’s right just to keep 11 going until they fall down and get injured or whatever and then we play the next ones, as I don’t think that’s good for the group dynamic.”
