Chelsea have joined the race for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Jude Bellingham is a fantastic player, whose footballing talent has never been in doubt, and he’s attracting massive interest from all the big sides in the Premier League.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder was the captain for his side when Borussia Dortmund took on Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night – becoming the third-youngest player to captain a side in the competition behind Ruben Neves and Matthijs de Ligt. And not only did he score a goal, he also got an assist, in what was a man-of-the-match performance.

According to Rio Ferdinand, who made over 450 appearances for Manchester United during his playing days, ‘we haven’t seen’ what Bellingham is achieving in football as a midfielder at his age before.

Ferdinand believes Bellingham is doing what the greats like Frank Lampard and Co didn’t do at such a young age.

“What he’s doing in his position at his age, we haven’t seen,” the pundit told BT Sport. “The best of our generation, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, them guys…Viera, Roy Keane, they weren’t doing this.

“He still has to go on and prove it over a long period of time but they were not doing what he is doing right now, influencing games at this level, captaining a team at this level, he is the full package. Mentally, this kid’s a beast, no doubts about him.”

Bellingham has continued to grow in his game since moving to Dortmund in 2020. The midfielder has now reached 100 appearances for the Bundesliga club, scoring 14 goals, and assisting another 20 in that time.
