Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was signed by Chelsea during the summer transfer window, and he picked up the No. 9 shirt.
A lot of fans had hoped he’d take the number 14 considering how many strikers have flopped with the No. 9 jersey.
However, Aubameyang has now scored in back to back games for Chelsea, and he has revealed that he doesn’t listen to such things regarding the No. 9 curse at Stamford Bridge.
He said: “I don’t know, I don’t listen to these kind of things. I love the no.9 so I took it. I’m happy with that and hopefully I can score more goals.”
Aubameyang also hailed the Blues defence for keeping a clean sheet against AC Milan.
Asked how important it was to get a clean sheet, he replied: “Yes, really important. I spoke before with the guys, I thought they were amazing.
“Everyone was winning duels. I think it was not easy because they have great strikers as well, so I think they did an amazing job.
“A difficult team to play against, they play really good football. To tell the truth I didn’t expect them to be so strong, but I think we had the right intensity to beat them.”
Aubameyang also reserved special praise for Chelsea right-back Reece James.
He added: “For me he is the best full-back in the world at the moment. He’s doing a great job, he had a goal and an assist.”
