Signed for a £47m fee from RB Leipzig, Timo Werner failed to reach those impressive heights showed at Leipzig in his two years at Chelsea.

Chelsea then sold Werner back to his former club for around £25m – slightly more than half of what was paid for him two years ago.

Timo Werner seems to have picked form for Leipzig and bagged an impressive brace for RB Leipzig in their weekend clash against Bochum last weekend.

Werner has now scored 6 goals in all competitions for Leipzig after 10 games.

However, the German scored just 11 goals in all competitions for Chelsea last season after 37 games, and a total of 23 goals in 89 games for Chelsea.

Speaking about his time at Chelsea, Werner has described it as bitter-sweet.

“Personally, it wasn’t the very best time,” Timo Werner told the German FA’s official website about his time at Chelsea.

“I had imagined something more. I learned a lot, won the Champions League and other trophies.

“I enjoyed the two years abroad very much – and enjoyed London very much. I had one laughing eye and one crying eye.”
