While as Brighton manager, Graham Potter convinced Billy Gilmour to leave Stamford Bridge to join the Seagulls.
Gilmour sealed a move to Brighton just before the close of the transfer window.
However, Chelsea would appoint Potter as the club’s new manager, shortly after Gilmour’s decision to join Potter at Brighton.
Reports had claimed that Gilmour was disappointed that Potter dumped Brighton shortly after convincing him to join.
Potter has however told Gilmour to move on and backed him to succeed at the Amex Stadium.
“The uncomfortable thing about it is the timing of my opportunity here,” admits Potter.
“So close after the transfer window had closed is never ideal, but it is part of life and part of football.
“I wish him [Gilmour] well and my first impressions of him is he is a top, top lad and we know the talent he has, so hopefully he will do well there.”
