Todd Boehly backed Thomas Tuchel in the summer transfer window, as Chelsea spent over £270m on new signings.

Chelsea made nine new additions to the squad over the summer, with massive fees spent on Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Chelsea signed Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus, but Chelsea had targeted other players which didn’t work out.

Chelsea had a €50 million bid rejected by Ajax for Edson Alvarez and a similar fee for Ibrahim Sangare was also rejected.

Former PSV Eindhoven winger Kenneth Perez has condemned the Dutch club’s decision to reject Chelsea’s offer for Ibrahim Sangare in the summer, according to Perez, ‘it’s almost criminal’

He said on ESPN Netherlands [via Inside Futbol]:

“I don’t agree with that. If you let an offer of €50m for Sangare go, I think it’s almost criminal.”
