Chelsea first choice goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has rejected a new contract offer from the club.
According to Nizaar Kinsella, Mendy turned down Chelsea’s latest contract offer, as he doesn’t want to earn lesser wages than second choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Kepa pockets £145,000 per week after his £70m record transfer from Athletic Bilbao, while Mendy pockets a meagre £52,000 per week wages.
Chelsea had offered Mendy fresh terms that would see him still earn less than Kepa, which the Senegal international turned down.
The Senegalese wants to get more, or the same amount of money, as the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, Chelsea do not want to have two goalkeepers on big wages, and aren’t keen on giving Mendy what he wants while Kepa is still at the club.
Chelsea should pay Mendy more than kepa, because Mendy is better than kepa
