Swiss international Denis Zakaria joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus on transfer deadline day.

The 25-year-old midfielder could become a permanent Chelsea player if he impresses, as Chelsea have an option to buy in the deal.

Zakaria has now admitted that he attempted to join Chelsea because of Thomas Tuchel.

However, Zakaria didn’t go on to play for Tuchel as the German was sacked shortly after his signing.

“Tuchel was one of the reasons I went to Chelsea, he’s a great coach,” Denis Zakaria said in an interview with Blick.

“But now we haven’t had much time with him’ ‘I might have a new chance with the new coach, about whom I’ve heard a lot of good things. I will work a lot to get my place.”
