Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has pulled out of the Senegal national team squad for their upcoming games due to injury.

Mendy had initially joined up with the team, but has since withdrawn from the squad, head coach Aliou Cissé has confirmed.

Mendy picked up a knee injury against West Ham.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was in goal for the game against RB Salzburg, and reports claim Mendy is working hard to return to action for Chelsea’s game against Crystal Palace on October 1.

Graham Potter had said of Mendy: “Edouard will miss the game [against Salzburg].”

He added: “With Mendy, it’s a knee problem. It’s responded well to treatment and it doesn’t look like it will be too long [before he’s back] but at the moment he’s not available.”
