Many reports coming out after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, showed that Tuchel and Todd Boehly could not work together.
The new Chelsea co-owner and chairman, had said Tuchel didn’t seem to share in his vision on a number of things, and it played out in so many situations.
According to reports, the signing of Wesley Fofana caused some problems as well.
The ex-Chelsea boss was angered by the lack of progress the club were making in negotiations for Fofana, who was Chelsea’s most expensive signing during the summer transfer window.
After the deal was done, the move was delayed further when Boehly insisted that Fofana underwent his medical in New York City.
According to Sport Bild, Tuchel saw Fofana as a key part of his plans and wanted to integrate the young defender into his squad as quickly as possible.
Fofana would however take a seven-hour flight to the east coast, where he underwent his medical and took a flight back to the UK.
Tuchel deemed the trip as unnecessary, and was ‘furious’ that the Frenchman had to then combat jetlag on his return.
Fofana has revealed what went down during the medical as several parts of his body was checked, and hinted that even his genitals.
“I thought I was going to do it in London and then I found out that it would be carried out in New York City! It was an express visit, but I spent a long time at the clinic,” Wesley Fofana told GFFN.
“It was the [LA] Lakers doctor who supervised all the tests, he looked at everything. They examined my ankle; everything was analysed, even parts of the body that I can’t talk about in order to see how I had recovered from my injury.
“It lasted over 10 hours! It’s normal given the amount of money spent on me. Todd [Boehly] and Behdad [Eghbali] were great.
“They welcomed me in London and in New York like a member of their own family.”
