It’s been almost a week since Todd Boehly’s decision to sack Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was axed last Wednesday – the following morning after Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Nobody had seen the sack coming, as it was kept a secret by the new owners. Even Thomas Tuchel didn’t see it coming.

However, the one man who could have known was Billy Gilmour. The young midfielder was keen on leaving Chelsea after being frozen out by Thomas  Tuchel.

Todd Boehly attempted to convince Gilmour to remain at Stamford Bridge, and the Chelsea board were reluctant to sanction Gilmour’s departure.

According to The Athletic, Todd Boehly had urged Gilmour to wait for his opportunity and also implied the situation could soon change.

Gilmour, who was keen to play under Graham Potter, eventually sealed a deadline day transfer to Brighton.

On his unveiling, Gilmour spoke highly of Graham Potter after joining the Seagulls and revealed how much he wanted to play under the Englishman.

Potter would join Chelsea just one week later, and Gilmour is now said to be disappointed with the decision to leave Stamford Bridge.
