Thomas Tuchel often used the 3-4-3 system during his time as Chelsea manager.
Tuchel would have success with the system, as he won the Champions League in his first year, and the Super Cup and Club World Cup the following year.
However, the 3-4-3 system didn’t work for Tuchel this season, as Chelsea struggled to win games. In the end, the German was axed after six league games this season.
Chelsea have gone on to appoint Graham Potter as the new Chelsea manager, and Potter could as well use a 3 at the back system at Chelsea.
Reporter Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Potter has been trying out two different formations at Cobham since becoming Chelsea boss.
Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “He’s been working on a few different things since coming in. Obviously, it’s very early days, but people I speak to say that they’ve seen him work on basically two different shapes in training, neither particularly dissimilar to what Tuchel was utilising.
“And I think that’s quite important. You don’t want to completely rock the boat at this stage.”
