New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly heavily backed Thomas Tuchel in the summer transfer window, as the club spent over £270m to bring in new signings.

Todd Boehly seems to have fallen out with Thomas Tuchel, which eventually led to the sacking of the former Chelsea manager on Wednesday.

Todd Boehly is now ready to show same benevolence to Graham Potter in the January transfer window.

According to reports, Chelsea would try to strengthen the midfield in January.

Chelsea’s midfield seems lightweight, as N’Golo Kante continues to struggle with injuries. Mateo Kovacic hasn’t gained full match sharpness, while Jorginho is out of form.

Both Kante and Jorginho are out of contract next summer, while deadline day signing Denis Zakaria’s loan deal expires at the end of the season.

Chelsea tried to sign Edson Alvarez during the summer, but the Blues saw a £43m bid for the midfielder rejected in the final week of the transfer window.

Chelsea could yet make a move for Alvarez in January.

Also, if Kepa Arrizabalaga finds a club in January, Chelsea could also look to sign a backup goalkeeper in the winter transfer window.
