Chelsea signed up Ben Chilwell from Leicester City in the summer of 2020, and the 25-year-old has proven to be a very good signing for the club.

Chilwell has scored eight goals and 10 assists in 61 appearances for Chelsea.

Journalist Simon Phillips has wondered the role Chilwell will play under new manager Graham Potter.

The Seagulls boss have Chilwell and his former player Marc Cucurella for the left wing-back position, and Phillips has claimed Reece James would be a regular in the right wing-back position but wasn’t too sure of where Chilwell would stand with Potter.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Phillips said: “The other main thing is the wing-backs.

“Whereas Tuchel prefers to use full-backs as his wing-backs, Potter much prefers to use wingers at wing-back, so it’s going to be interesting there to see how and where Reece James and Ben Chilwell will fit into the team.

“I think Reece James would be fine as an attacking winger or wing-back, but I think Ben Chilwell is going to struggle a little bit more.

“Marc Cucurella obviously came from Brighton, I think he’s going to be more used as a left centre-back in that kind of system, which is where Tuchel ended up playing him anyway in recent matches.”
