Chelsea announced the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea manager on Wednesday morning.
The announcement came as a shock to all, as talks to extend the German’s contract was brought up barely two weeks ago.
Chelsea are looking to make a swift appointment to replace Thomas Tuchel, and reports claim Brighton boss Graham Potter is the main target by Todd Boehly and his board.
Chelsea have reportedly made a formal approach to speak to Graham Potter, and Brighton have given Chelsea permission to hold talks with their manager.
According to Sky Sports, just a couple of hours after Tuchel was dismissed, Chelsea approached Brighton to ask if they could speak to Potter and the Seagulls have granted them permission.
Chelsea would have to pay off the Seagulls £16m compensation fee to sign up Potter as the club’s new manager.
Potter will now travel to London on Thursday to hold talks with the Chelsea board, including chairman Todd Boehly and other executives ahead of a likely appointment.
According to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, Graham Potter is likely to be confirmed as the next Chelsea head coach on Thursday.
Todd Boehly is reportedly hopeful he can have Potter as a man in charge of the team in the long term – something he wasn’t able to achieve with Thomas Tuchel.
That’s cool
