During the summer transfer window, Chelsea were linked with a move for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.
At just 20, Gvardiol has developed into a top player, and Chelsea had reportedly made a £77m offer for the young defender which was rejected by Leipzig.
Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has confirmed the rumours, and is hopeful of playing with the young player at the club.
“At the club, they asked me about Josko [Gvardiol], I told them all the best,” Kovacic told a press conference.
“I don’t need to say anything about his football, they know what kind of player he is, and his character is excellent.”
“I have seen in the national team how eager Gvardiol is to play, he has a great career ahead of him, and I hope that one day we will play together in the club.”
