Chelsea made history this summer by spending £271.1million during the summer transfer window.

No other Premier League side has spent as much money during a single window as Chelsea did.

New Chelsea owners led by Todd Boehly massively backed Thomas Tuchel in the transfer window, as the Blues boss spent big money to land in Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling.

Other signings are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina, Cesare Casadei, Eddie Beach, Omari Hutchinson and the loan signing of Denis Zakaria.

Speaking about Chelsea’s spending, Thomas Tuchel said: “We can discuss endlessly if we overspent, but the players we got are very good players and personalities.

“Everything was desperately needed to rebuild the group and inspire the group. We did excellent signings.

“It doesn’t help if we talk about the price. This is how the market was for us, it was nobody’s fault given the situation, but the players we got fit perfectly and I’m very happy to work with this group now.”

  1. I can assure you, if the right people where in places for decision making in regards to signing players, Chelsea wouldn’t have spend this chunk of money of these guys. Take a close look at Fofana, this guy isn’t worth 70m but Tuchel sanctioned the buy for such amount, Cucurella isn’t worth 60m yet was bought with such amount.. this is crazy..we must look into getting the right persons to doing this job as it should be done. To say the least, these players weren’t bought on time to have gel with the others during the preseason. The club who has the right people doing the right thing did that earlier and are enjoying the fruit thereof e.g. Arsenal, Man City, and many more.

  2. The money we should have spent by my valuation;
    Fofana – 38m
    Cucurella – 32m
    Auba – 7m
    Kulibaly – 15m
    Raheem – 35m
    Total – 160m
