Chelsea sealed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on transfer deadline, as the 33-year-old striker joined Chelsea from Barcelona.
With Chelsea in need of a striker, the Blues decided to go for Aubameyang.
Interestingly, Aubameyang will wear the number 9 jersey for Chelsea.
Chelsea’s number 9’s have a history of not living up to expectations, and fans have dubbed it the ‘number 9 curse’.
Aubameyang wore the number 17 shirt at Barcelona and also with Dortmund. At Arsenal, he wore the 14 jersey.
The last time the Gabon international wore the number 9 jersey was during his time at Saint Etienne and with Dijon in France.
Aubameyang said: “I’m really happy. It’s an honour to be part of this team and I can’t wait to start. I have some unfinished business with the Premier League so it’s good to be back and really exciting.”
The big question on the mind of every Chelsea fan is whether the Gabon international can break from the number 9 curse at Stamford Bridge.
