Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has slammed Chelsea’s decision to sign yet another defender.
Souness believes Chelsea should have focused more on the attack than signing a number of defenders.
“We were talking about Raheem Sterling, but I still think they need a centre forward,” Souness told TalkSPORT when asked about Chelsea’s top four chances.
“They signed [left-back] Marc Cucurella. He might be a very good player, but I don’t see that as a priority. You have Ben Chilwell, Marcos Alonso.
“You have to prioritise where your real need is, and they have not done that.
“It’s [just] potential again. You talk about Manchester United spending a 100 million euros on Antony, that’s potential at 22. Fofana is a similar age.
“It’s slightly worrying he [went] to America for a medical. Something has been flagged up. In this city we are in [London] you are telling me you wouldn’t get the best treatment?’”
I’m afriad of what’s going on in Chelsea at the moment, seems the persons in charge lacked knowledge of how a team is run or what makes a team! Needless to say, we sold two attackers and yet signed none. To me Lukaku should’ve been given sometimes, Timo has started hitting the ground, yet what sold. This has put lots of unnecessary pressure on some players who wants to leave, they think things aren’t well managed. I think the whole blame should go to Tuchel, who has not yet figured out what his priorities are. You can see Manchester City, Pep knew what was missing and went for it irrespective of the players who left. We might regret the wholesale thing we’re doing currently.. be warned Tuchel!!
