It took a massive £70m fee to sign up Wesley Fofana from Leicester City.
The transfer negotiations for the 21-year-old was a lengthy one, and the defender eventually made the move to Chelsea.
Fofana has admitted that the trio of Reece James, Edouard Mendy and Marc Cucurella convinced him to sign for Chelsea.
“I speak to Reece James on Instagram and Eduoard Mendy, [Marc] Cucurella as well,” Fofana told Chelsea’s official website.
“Reece James sent me a message on Instagram about one month ago, saying ‘You come and me and you play in defence’. I love that. It’s good for the confidence and he’s my guy now.”
The young centre-back has claimed that he has been a happy man since his transfer fee was agreed two years ago.
He added: “The two last days have been really big days for me and I’m very happy. I trained this morning with the team and it’s a dream for me. I’m very excited to start playing games for the fans and the club.
“I’m here to win trophies – the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, everything. I came here to win and the club is built to win trophies so I’m here to continue that.”
