Barcelona have been in talks with Chelsea to sign up Marcos Alonso from the club. But no deal has been yet agreed.
Barcelona have not moved for Alonso in recent days due to other transfer priorities – most especially the registration of their new signings like Jules Kounde.
Also, the emergence of Alex Balde is believed to have slowed down talks for Alonso, with Barcelona focusing on signing a right-back instead.
According to a report by Diario AS, Barcelona had a meeting with Marcos Alonso’s agents, and Joan Laporta promised to sign the player before transfer deadline day.
Alonso hasn’t been part of the Chelsea team this season, and is yet to play for the Blues this term.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has said he can’t wait for the transfer window to be over, so that he can know the players he has available for the season.
“They’re human, it’s a transfer window and they’re not only with us in Cobham,” Tuchel said.
“Once they leave the building, they have their phones on and they will get calls and think about their future and their next step. There is a World Cup coming which everybody talks about and thinks about.
“I have accepted it is like this, and from the second of September there are no more excuses and no more distractions.”
