According to reports, Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are now working seriously to get a deal done for Gvardiol.

After the transfer is sealed, Chelsea will loan the defender back to Leipzig for the rest of the season.

The Croatia international is seen as one of the most promising young defenders in Europe.

At just 20, Gvardiol has developed into a top player, but Leipzig have been adamant that he is not for sale in this transfer window.

Gvardiol had signed a new contract which included a buyout clause of £43m – but that can only be triggered next summer.

Chelsea have opted to pay more to sign the defender this summer and beat rivals to the signing.

Chelsea will be hoping they can get a deal completed before Thursday’s deadline.
