Chelsea target Wesley Fofana has flown to the United States to complete his Chelsea medical.

Chelsea and Leicester City have both agreed a fee for the signing of Fofana, and it is believed to be £75m.

In a normal situation, Fofana should have done his medical in London.

However, the Blues have asked the Frenchman to do an extensive medical check in the United States, to be extra sure regarding his injuries.

The 21-year-old missed more than seven months of action last season after breaking his leg in August last year. He also had several knee injuries while still in France.

Fofana’s signing will be confirmed after the medical has been completed.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Green has said that the arrival of Fofana will bring out the best in Reece James.

“[Chelsea] are playing catch-up and have to pay the money,” Green told the BBC.

“They will get a great player. He immediately ticks the boxes and is also one of the future.

“Reece James’ quality is on the ball. Wesley Fofana ticks a box for the centre-half position but also strengthens elsewhere as James can go forward.”
