As we reported over the weekend, Chelsea were making plans to terminate the contract of midfielder Ross Barkley.

It has now been confirmed that Ross Barkley is no longer a Chelsea player following the termination of his contract.

Chelsea have made this known via an official club statement: “Ross Barkley has left Chelsea by mutual consent and becomes a free agent.”

The statement added: “We would like to thank Ross for his contribution to Chelsea and wish him well for the rest of his career.”

Barkley’s final game was against Watford in May, and it was his late header that secured all three points in our last game of the season.
