Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted the transfer involving Chelsea and Anthony Gordon is a very strange one.
Chelsea have been linked with a £60m move for the young Everton winger, and Agbonlahor can’t see why Chelsea want to pay so much for him.
“First of all I think it’s strange for Everton to even think of selling him,” the pundit said on talkSPORT.
“But, when you talk about this amount of money, you have to sell him. When you’re talking £60 million, for me, he’s £30-£40 million at most.
“He can get at players, he can put a good delivery in, he can score goals. But when you read out the stats, it’s hard to see where £60m has come from. If Everton, who need a number nine, can get £60m or £50m plus Armando Broja on loan maybe, it’s definitely worth doing.
“It’s strange from Chelsea, though! They also need a number nine, they’ve got wingers. They’ve got enough wingers in the building. Is Gordon really going to change Chelsea from a wide point of view? Not for me. They need a striker, so it’s a bit strange from them, to be honest.”
The real problem here is Tuchel and not Boehly. How can a manager as experienced as Tuchel sanctioned such a deal? It doesn’t make any freaking sense. We’ve better and proven wingers in our team already. Gordon to me has nothing new to offer this Chelsea team, that’s for real. We should’ve kept Timo. How can we give out CHO to get Gordon? Makes no sense. That isn’t worth £20m.
