Chelsea confirmed the signing of Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan earlier today, after the Italian agreed a six-year deal with the Blues.
The 19-year-old midfielder joins Chelsea as a highly-rated talent from Inter, and much is expected from him in his development.
Speaking about the new signing, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has said he won’t rush him into the first team.
Tuchel revealed that Casadei will first join the development squad and spend some time there before he begins to train with the senior team.
Tuchel said: “I met him yesterday here in the building.
“We will give him time now to learn the language, to learn what Chelsea is all about, to understand the culture, how we live here, how we train here on a daily basis.
“Once he’s settled in we will give him opportunities to train with us and show his qualities. We will assess him, have a clearer picture of him and then we will see.”
Chelsea’s Head of youth development Neil Bath said of the deal: “Cesare is a player we have tracked for some time and we are delighted that he has now agreed to join Chelsea, where he will initially strengthen our Under-21s squad.
“He is another exciting emerging talent who we are looking forward to seeing develop and progress further as he breaks into senior football in the coming years.”
