Chelsea have been linked with a surprise move for young Everton forward Anthony Gordon.

Chelsea have seen a bid of £40m rejected for the forward, with Everton said to want at least £50m for his sale.

Gordon is keen on joining Chelsea, but it’s yet to be seen if Chelsea would actually splash that much cash on an unproven 21-year-old.

Speaking to the media, Everton boss Frank Lampard, has said he wants to keep Gordon at the club – saying the player is of ‘huge value’ to the team but isn’t willing to rule out his exit.

“Anthony Gordon is an Everton player, and that’s it for me, I don’t want to talk about hypotheticals,” said the Chelsea legend.

“He is an Everton player… he has got a huge value to the team for me.

“He’s in the squad for tomorrow [to play Nottingham Forest], any chats I have with him are private.”

When asked if the need for a striker is greater than the need to keep Gordon: “We need both.

“You can’t ask me to assure anything, it’ll be naive of me to assure anything. I can’t assure I’ll be here by the end of the window.”
