Chelsea paid a massive fee to sign up Marc Cucurella from Brighton. The Blues paid a whopping £63m for the Spaniard.
Cucurella has said he can play anywhere across the left side, but his best position is as a left-back.
“The three positions on the left side is good for me. I think my best position is left-back because I play all my career in the academies in this position,” Marc Cucurella said, during a press conference.
“I have more movements and I stay more comfortable. But if the gaffer puts me in another position, I run as well and I need to be good for the team.”
Cucurella has indeed impressed and played with a high tempo while featuring as a left wing-back in his first two games for Chelsea.
Cucurella has also hailed fellow fullback Ben Chilwell for helping him settle quickly at the club.
However, the new signing warned that he’ll fight with Chilwell for a place in the squad.
The Spaniard said: “He helped me a lot in these first days. He’s a very good person. It’s good competition because we need to work hard to play.
“We have two players for one position and if one player is better, the gaffer will put him in the line-up. I think this is good for the team.”
