Chelsea’s move to sign Wesley Fofana may go down as one of the most complicated transfers in recent history.

Leicester City have the upper hand, as Fofana only recently signed a long-term contract with the club.

According to reports, Chelsea have already reached personal agreement with Fofana, pending when the two clubs will agree on a fee.

Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter: “Wesley Fofana has agreed personal terms with Chelsea, so the contract would be ready in case the two clubs find an agreement.

“Chelsea are preparing a new bid as they want Fofana as priority target. Leicester insist on their position. Tough one, but still open.”

Chelsea are keen on signing Fofana before transfer deadline day, and have already reached personal terms with the player beforehand, so the deal will go on smoothly once a fee is agreed with Leicester City.

For Leicester City, they want nothing less than a world record fee for a defender, having received £80m for Harry Maguire.
