Timo Werner had sealed a return to former club RB Leipzig, after two seasons at Chelsea.

Werner was in top form for Leipzig before signing for Chelsea, but his two years at Chelsea saw his scoring form drop drastically.

The German found the net against FC Koln in his debut match after his comeback to the Bundesliga.

36 minutes into the game, Werner opened the scoring for Leipzig, but the game eventually ended in a 2-2 draw.

Chelsea right-back Reece James sent a congratulatory message to Werner after the game.

“Love to see this 😍” Reece James wrote in reply to a post about Timo Werner’s first RB Leipzig goal after the comeback.

Werner penned an emotional farewell message to Chelsea fans after sealing a return to Leipzig.

“Dear Blues, today marks the end of my journey with Chelsea,” he wrote.

“I am incredibly grateful for the time I spent at this special club. At this point I would like to express my appreciation for my teammate, the coaches and staff, and especially for you, the special supporters.

“I felt so much love and support throughout the last two years and I will never forget how you guys stood behind me in good and in challenging times!

“We lifted trophies like the Champions League together and I will always remember the song you wrote and chanted for me.

“I’m already looking forward to hopefully playing at Stamford Bridge again one day!”
