Signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona will go down as one of the most complicated deals in recent history.
The Netherlands international is having a go with the club, and despite an accepted bid from Manchester United, De Jong has refused to move to Old Trafford.
Chelsea have come into the picture and are favourites for the signing.
And it’s just a merry-go-round with the 25-year-old midfielder who is being owed £17m in deferred wages and has been told by Barcelona to take a pay cut.
ESPN’s Samuel Marsden has now claimed that De Jong’s representatives have told Chelsea he doesn’t want a move.
He tweeted: “FDJ’s agents have told Chelsea & Barça not to use intermediaries in talks after Barça pres. Laporta tried to involve Pini Zahavi.
“Feeling is that will only hinder things. For now, FDJ camp remain clear that they don’t intend to move.”
With Barcelona fans booing De Jong on Wednesday, it’s yet to be seen if he would still be a Barcelona player, come the end of the summer transfer window.
