Chelsea have signed up Kalidou Koulibaly in defence, and the Blues are being linked with a move for another central defender, Wesley Fofana.
Chelsea have seen a bid of £60m rejected for the Leicester City centre-back.
Chelsea are believed to have tabled another offer in the excess of £70m for Fofana.
According to reports, it may take a world record fee for a defender to sign up Fofana from the Foxes.
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is trying to do everything possible to ensure Fofana doesn’t sign for Chelsea.
According to The Athletic, Rodgers has sat down for a discussion with Fofana, and told him that he will have a better chance of making France’s World Cup squad if he stays with Leicester City this season.
21-year-old Fofana is yet to earn his first cap for France, but has represented their U21 side on five occasions.
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has sent a warning to Chelsea that his players aren’t for sale.
Rodgers said: “These players are not for sale. These are very important players to us.
“We’re in a situation where we need to move some players out but that doesn’t mean getting rid of anyone and everyone and especially not our best assets.”
