Chelsea have a shortage at the back following the exit of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has continuously spoken on the need to strengthen his defence.

The Blues have signed Kalidou Koulibaly but are still being linked with a move for another central defender.

Chelsea had seen a bid of £60m rejected for Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana.

Fofana’s transfer value is high, having only signed a new contract back in March.

According to, Chelsea are prepared to break the world record fee for a defender in order to secure the signature of Fofana.

Harry Maguire’s £80m move from Leicester City to Manchester United remains the world record fee paid for a defender.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Fofana is not for sale, but reports have it that the Foxes will sell if Chelsea table a juicy offer.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers sent a warning to Chelsea that his players aren’t for sale.

Rodgers said: “These players are not for sale. These are very important players to us.

“We’re in a situation where we need to move some players out but that doesn’t mean getting rid of anyone and everyone and especially not our best assets.”
