After two seasons at Chelsea, Timo Werner has now completed a return to former club RB Leipzig.
Werner goes back to Leipzig having won the Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup with Chelsea.
Werner had many memorable moments at Chelsea, but a lack of consistency was the major problem, and the club decided to let go of him this summer.
In his debut season, he contributed 12 goals and 15 assists in all competitions – the most of the entire Chelsea team.
His electrifying pace caused a lot of teams problems, and he was always very influential in our Champions League games.
Last season at the Santiago Bernabeu, Werner caused lots of problems for Real Madrid, although Chelsea were unfortunate not to have won the tie.
Although Werner’s Premier League record was far from impressive – 10 goals in 56 appearances, his Champions League record was brilliant.
Chelsea never lost a Champions League game where Werner played – in 17 appearances, the Blues didn’t lose a single game, winning 13 and drawing four.
In these 17 matches, Werner played a crucial role as he scored eight goals and assisted four more. Werner scored a crucial goal against Real Madrid in the 2020/21 season when the Blues won the competition.
Farewell, Turb Timo.
