Chelsea managed to beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.

It was a very tight affair between the two sides, but Chelsea carried the day, following Jorginho’s penalty goal in the first half.

Thomas Tuchel revealed his side are yet to get into their stride, as he admitted he was pleased to start the season with an away win, even though it didn’t come with finesse.

The Chelsea boss also admitted that luck worked in Chelsea’s favour as well.

“It was very important to get the opening goal,” Tuchel said.

“Everton defended very deep and if you’re playing against the whole block, and there’s a lot of discipline and a lot of effort, it’s always difficult to find the chance and you need the one-on-ones and you need the quick accelerations and the belief in your game and a bit of freedom.

“They are still things to improve, but with a bit of luck and the right spirit and passion we managed to win and to start with an away win is a fantastic result.”
