Chelsea striker Timo Werner wasn’t in the Chelsea squad to face Everton on Saturday evening.
Werner hasn’t impressed for Chelsea since a £47.5m move from RB Leipzig in 2020.
The Germany international was one of Europe’s hottest strikers during during his time at Leipzig, as he scored 78 league goals in 127 appearances.
However, Werner has not enjoyed the same amount of success at Stamford Bridge, scoring 23 goals in 89 appearances.
Werner did help Chelsea win the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup, but will now leave the club after two seasons.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Werner is all set for a return to former club RB Leipzig.
Werner had hinted last month that he wants to he where he’d be happy.
“First of all, the most important thing is that I am happy. I am happy when I play and score goals,” Werner stated.
“That’s the fact. That’s what I should take care of and the other things will come. I could be happy everywhere.
“I think of course the manager always has different ideas, different thoughts and what you need in different games, I think in many games I was not in his thoughts so I try to change that.
“It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and also, to have a chance to play at the World Cup.
“I think it doesn’t change anything whether it is a winter world cup or in the summer. I think if I play half or the season or the whole season, I should play.”
