Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been linked with a summer exit from Barcelona.
According to transfer expert Gerard Romero, De Jong is expected to leave Barcelona this week.
Romero has suggested that the Dutchman will join Chelsea this summer.
The Blues are believed to have made an offer worth €70m plus Marcos Alonso for the midfielder, latest reports claims.
Reports also suggest De Jong is in favour of joining Thomas Tuchel’s side over Manchester United.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has responded to the rumours by claiming that De Jong wants to stay at Barcelona.
Laporta said: “Frenkie De Jong is a Barcelona player of great quality and we want him to stay.
“With him and his teammates, we have a very powerful midfield. He has offers, but we want him to stay and he wants to stay too.”
Reports however claim that Barcelona are looking to either sell De Jong or get him to lower his wages significantly, and the Dutchman is said to be opposed to both scenarios.
Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso missed Chelsea’s opening league game against Everton and is now set for a move to Barcelona.
