Marc Cucurella’s signing was confirmed on Friday, and the Spain international started on the bench against Everton on Saturday.
Cucurella was a 75th minute sub for Kalidou Koulibaly, and his impact was instant.
The 24-year-old was dangerous down the left flank, brought in fresh energy and his ability to beat the press is top notch.
Cucurella had a brilliant debut, despite coming on late in the game.
Thomas Tuchel was very impressed with the performance of the Spaniard.
“Cucurella was very strong in the last 20 minutes,” Tuchel told BBC Sport after the game.
“[He was] very safe on the ball, very intelligent in escaping pressure.”

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel has spoken on the need to sign more players for the team.
Tuchel said: “Not only about the quality, but it is also injecting new energy, new ideas, fresh minds and habits, and guys who suddenly fight in completely new roles.
“This is also what new players bring, not only about quality and doubting the quality of [the current players].
“So, yeah, we would like to [sign more players] and let’s see if we can make it happen.
“If not, we push this team to the limit.”
