Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has been linked with a summer transfer move to Barcelona, and the 31-year-old Spain international is edging closer to a move to the Camp Nou.

Alonso missed Chelsea’s opening league game against Everton.

Marcos Alonso was left out of the Chelsea squad for the Everton game amid rumours that he is trying to secure his move to Barcelona.

Speaking to the media after the game against Everton, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Alonso has asked to leave Chelsea.

“He tries to leave and we agreed to this. It would make no sense to put him on the pitch today,” Tuchel said.

Alonso has reportedly agreed a three-year deal with Barcelona, and the Spaniard is expected to return to his home country after six years at Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona and Chelsea are believed to have agreed a fee of €10m for Alonso, and the Spaniard will sign a contract with Barca until 2024 with an option for an additional year.
