According to reports, Chelsea are set to make a shocking swoop for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Following Barcelona’s signing of Robert Lewandowski, reports have it that 33-year-old Aubameyang may be available for sale.

Thomas Tuchel and Aubameyang know each other well from their time at Borussia Dortmund.

It was under the Chelsea boss that Aubameyang gained prominence as one of the best goalscorers in Europe, scoring 79 goals in two years across all competitions.

When the Aubameyang rumours and the player’s record of 79 goals under him in Germany were put to the Blues boss, Thomas Tuchel said: “I would be interested in the 79 goals actually (laughs).

“We will not comment further.

“There are a lot of names out there, sometimes it’s due to the fact that we discuss a lot of names and sometimes it’s pure speculation and we will not get involved.”
